I Count The Days~Counting The Omer

The Feast of Weeks

Harvest fields, @stabilizerinthestorm.blogspot.com

And you shall count for yourselves from the day after the Sabbath, from the day that you brought the sheaf of the wave offering: seven Sabbaths shall be completed. Count fifty days to the day after the seventh Sabbath; then you shall offer a new grain offering to the Lord. ~ God.
Leviticus 23:15‭-‬16.

Have you ever wondered what happened in the weeks after Jesus Resurrection; or after Pesach, when Israel was freed from the bondage of slavery in Egypt? In both instances, God's Commandment was, and is still, fulfilled.

God, through Moses, forever established the statute of Counting The Omer, Sefira Ha'Omer in Hebrew, in the hearts and traditions of Israel. Counting The Omer is counting 49 days, or seven weeks, until the Feast of Weeks or Shavuot, which occurs 50 Days after Pesach, also known as Passover.

Jesus, through His Apostles, forever established remembering the celebrations of His Ascension, 40 Days after Resurrection Day, and the Giving of Holy Spirit on Pentecost, 50 Days after Easter.

The former account I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, until the day in which He was taken up, after He through the Holy Spirit had given commandments to the apostles whom He had chosen, to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the Kingdom of God. ~Dr. Luke
Acts 1:1‭-‬3

In the weeks after Pesach/Passover, Israel was eagerly counting the days and preparing their hearts and minds for the promise of God of the Giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai 50 days later. The Apostles, in the days after Jesus Resurrection from the dead, were eagerly counting the 50 days until they would be imbued with power from on high with the Baptism of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost.

These joyous days leading up to the parallel celebrations of the wonderful gifts from God to mankind~ the Giving of the Torah and the Giving of the Holy Spirit ~ are days we should mark on the diary of our hearts forever! Let us eagerly Count The Days until Shavuot and Pentecost together, too, spending quality quiet times with God, meditating on His goodness and on the Precious Gifts He has given us over the course of the next Seven Weeks.

Thank You, Holy Spirit, for leading and guiding us through the next Seven Sabbaths. Help us to glean a greater understanding of You and Father and our Lord Jesus Christ. May Your will, what You want to accomplish in each of our lives and in our individual relationships with You, be fulfilled in this time.

I count the days, Holy Spirit, until I can have a deeper knowledge and understanding of Your Shekinah Glory and Presence in my life. Lead the way, Holy Spirit! I am ready!
